Betting on Yourself
Recently, Kate Elliott shared her story of betting on herself with the launch of Koti Design Co. In fact, she took a leap from roles in the Tech industry to lean into her creativity through home staging and interior styling. Ironically, she found the skills she used in previous roles applicable to her business.
Don’t miss Betting on Yourself.

And if you missed the last post, check out the reflection on Decision Making and Accountability in Teens. The mental load on parents as we shift into teenage years. In this reflection, it became apparent there suddenly feels like a lot of pressure on the lessons taught in decision making and the foundation of accountability.
WELCOME!
Motherhood is a crazy journey in self-doubt and uncertainty. As a result, I find myself wishing ON THE REGULAR for a non-existent manual. A few years ago, this prompted me to begin sharing pieces of my story from the vantage point as Lowey Fraternity House President. Pranks, chaos, sports every night, mom meltdowns, laughs... we've got a bit of it all going on over here.
Then an evolution of The Mom Huddle began. Women with amazing stories just waiting to be shared began emerging everywhere. Moreover, I had the platform to do just that! Inspiring women through story telling.
At the core of it, I am convinced we can all be our own version of successful. Furthermore, it's WAY MORE FUN to do this motherhood thing surrounded by a supportive team. Therefore, let's enjoy the perfectly imperfect moments in The Mom Huddle!
Subscribe to share in the craziness of motherhood and feel part of our team. We definitely don't have all the answers (I mean, who does?!). Even so, knowing someone else shares moments of mom guilt and has similar thoughts and feelings creates a community. Welcome and enjoy!

THE INNER MEAN GIRL
INNER MEAN GIRL A portion of my job is to support people through mindset shifting. Admittedly, the irony is not lost on me that sometimes, I myself, need to simply LOOK IN A MIRROR and adopt this concept. Let’s talk about the things we say to ourselves. More specifically, our inner mean girl. I read in my 100 Days to Brave book this morning an excerpt on speaking kindly to yourself. To be honest, this is like the fifth time the effect of our inner messaging has popped up for me in the last week. Clearly the Universe is trying to...
ACCORDING TO PLAN
2020 PLANS Who’s 2020 plan has gone, well… according to plan? Yours did? Okay then, you can stop reading. For all the rest of us, let’s chat. Let me give you a quick rundown of my 2020 plan… First according to plan, my coaching business is 25 clients deep. Next according to plan, the boys are IN school as well as playing sports with all of their friends on the fields near our house. Lastly, according to plan I actually FOLLOWED the 2020 blog script which I laid out at the end of 2019. Of the above, guess how many went according to...
LEARN IN LOSS
WE CAN (AND SHOULD) LEARN IN LOSS My grandpa died recently as a young 92-year-old. Undoubtedly, he lived a FULL life. Even though his death was expected due to general decline over the last year, the actual occurrence of his death was still much harder than I anticipated. Likewise, I have been reflecting on it. There is much to learn in loss, no matter how prepared you think you are. Consequently, no amount of prep truly softens the blow of their presence suddenly gone. In turn, everything tied up in memories and stories. Grandpa...
A REALITY I NEVER KNEW
I DID A THING Recently, I did a thing. This THING made me nervous and uncomfortable. BUT this was important. Consequently, it’s important for all of us. I made a promise recently and this promise was to LISTEN. What do I mean by this? I claim to not be a racist. I truly don’t think I am. But what I’ve found through listening is my definition of being a racist isn’t a fully encompassing version of what racism actually is. This THING I did made me discover a reality I never knew. Racism is defined as prejudice, discrimination, or...
THE DEVIL IN COMPARISON
COMPARISON SHAME We’re all guilty of it. The “IT” I’m referring to? COMPARISON. You know, the evil thing we do to ourselves when we’re already in a down place. However, for some unknown reason our mind takes us FURTHER down by pulling out ONLY the good someone else has going for them. Consequently, making us feel less than adequate. Oh, the devil in comparison. Even when our rational brain tells us not to do this and there is more to the story, our guilty mom brain takes us there. Blerg. Last week, I enjoyed an evening of social...
IT COULD BE WORSE
BUT IT COULD ALSO BE BETTER.... First off, let’s talk about what is going on right now in the world? It could be worse, but it could also be better. I’m an extrovert through and through so this whole stay home thing is having more of an effect on me than I originally thought it ever would. I had a conversation with a friend about how I feel like a phony. For the Seinfeld fans out there… like when Mike Moffitt tells Kramer that Jerry Seinfeld is a phony? YEP, THIS! Consequently, I have been training for situations like this for the...
